2UE's John Stanley
John Stanley has worked in radio as a journalist/broadcaster for more than 30 years, starting in country radio in Moree and Bega before returning home to Sydney as a radio journalist with 2SM.
In 1979 he was sent to Canberra to work alongside Laurie Oakes, sharing a small two person office in the old Parliament House. After covering the 1980 election he returned to Sydney and was State political reporter for the city's first 24 hour news and talk station, 2GB, featuring Mike Carlton and John Laws. In the mid 1980s he became the networks Canberra bureau chief before joining 2UE in 1988 as assistant programme director and producer of the breakfast show, as well as filling in for Alan Jones.
In 1990 he took on the Drive time current affairs programme , in 1998 moved to afternoons, returning to Drive in 2008. He is a life long supporter of the Dragons Rugby League team, an ambassador for the Sydney Swans, and an off field Ambassador for Australian Football.
Born and raised in Sydney, he lives in the inner west and is married to Elissa Milne, a musician and composer. Their son, Tom was born in March 2007.
