In 2011, one of Sydney's most respected journalists John Stanley headlines a new, dynamic weekend lineup.
The city of Sydney has come of age on the world stage in recent years and keeping pace with it, 2UE unveils its new Weekend Breakfast Show. As the rat-race continues to accelerate, Weekend Breakfast delivers the latest information, news and entertainment as it unfolds, ensuring 2UE listeners don’t miss a thing! Just because you wind down on a Saturday and Sunday doesn’t mean your radio does.
John has worked in radio as a producer and broadcaster for the last 35 years. He started off in country radio in Moree and Bega before moving to the Canberra Press Gallery as a political reporter, covering the 1980 election. He returned home to Sydney as the State political correspondent for 2GB, covering the corruption dramas on Macquarie St before heading back south, this time the Canberra Bureau Chief of the Macquarie Radio Network across Australia.
John joined 2UE in 1988 as the Assistant Programme Director and Producer of the Breakfast show, filling in for Alan Jones on the side. Over the last two decades, John has presented the Drive and Afternoon shows before hosting Breakfast in 2010 alongside Sandy Aloisi. He's also anchored 2UE’s State and Federal election night coverage since 1990.
John is passionate about politics, community and sport – principally the St George Illawarra Dragons but he also plays golf at Ryde-Parramatta. He is an Australia Day ambassador and a supporter of Youth off the Streets, Enough is Enough and the Children’s Music foundation. Born and raised in Sydney, he lives in the Inner West with his musician and composer wife, Elissa Milne, and three year old son Tom.
