2UE's John Stanley

John Stanley is a prominent political journalist and widely respected talkback host. He’s spent over 35 years working in radio.
John kicked-off this career in country radio before moving to the Canberra Press Gallery as a political reporter, covering the 1980 election. He then worked as the State political correspondent for 2GB, covering the corruption dramas on Macquarie St before heading back to the Canberra, working as Bureau Chief of the Macquarie Radio Network across Australia.
John joined 2UE in 1988 as Assistant Program Director and Producer of the Breakfast show. Over the past two decades John has presented many shifts across 2UE including, Drive, Afternoons and Breakfast. He has also anchored 2UE’s State and Federal election night coverage since 1990.
This year marks John’s 25th year on the air at 2UE. As weekend breakfast host, John delivers the latest information, news and entertainment as it unfolds. He also presents a weekday business show from the newsroom of The Sydney Morning Herald in a purpose built interactive studio at Fairfax Headquarters.
A respected political commentator, John is a regular contributor to Sky News and a panellist on ABC TV Offsiders.
John is passionate about sport and the community. He is a mad supporter of his beloved St George Illawarra Dragons and a keen golfer.
He is a member of the scholarship committee for Youth Off The Streets and sits on the Walkley Advisory board that oversees the Walkley awards for journalism.
John lives in the Inner West with his musician and composer wife, Elissa Milne, and six year old son, Tom.
