$5b more needed for our schools?

More funding needed annually for Australia's public school system

A land mark review has found Federal and State Government's need to dramatically increase funding for all schools because standards are slipping. A review by businessman David Gonski says schools need an extra $5-billion a year, with most funding allocated to the public system.

The report says Australia needs to make a serious effort to help students in disadvantaged areas. Mr Gonski says the education system needs to improve or the nation will be left behind.

  • @just me. One doesnt have to look at the curriculum one need only look at the quality of students that have been turned out by the system. Just another Labour failure.

    Loony Left teachers? Have you been in a school in the last 20 years or read any curriculum material recently? No - I thought not.
    Our kids cant read or write or add up because they are taught about climate change. WOW! Are you as stupid as you seem Sonja?

  • This is the result when uneducated , looney lefty teachers are hired !!! They have NO HOPE to get anywhere near a Private School !!!
    All they do is Brainwash kids with their Green/Labor Left Wing Ideology !!!
    Kids are taught complete lies about Global Warming / Climate Change , Al Gore's hoax book stories/documentary Hatred towards Australia by praising Multiculturalism and telling kids to tolerate & accept other peoples' cultures, when it should be the other way around !!!!
    What about the Curriculum !!??

  • State & Federal Govt. payout nearly $7,500 per private student and over $14500 per public. I don`t think it`s all about the mopney Mr Garret, it`s that Public school principals cannot hire and fire, they`re stuck with who they`re sent, teachers with no accounability bar their conscience.

  • Money is certainly not the issue or the reason why we have so many deliberately dumbed-down, stupid illiterate-innumerate school leavers, after 12 long years of inappropriate schooling. School leavers who know every thing about bull twang, fraudulent man made global warming, gender neutrality, homosexual marriage, multicultural and UN brainwashing etc. Making the schoolies frightened and ashamed of their own country. Thus not teaching Australian History-ANZAC is a dirty word to most teachers. Throwing even more money at the serious problem will only make things much worse! Clearly todays current, no discipline, mind altering teaching technique-method has failed, under the lazy, greedy slime green Labor Teachers Federation's reckless watch. Whose agenda is to indoctrinate the children with their warped ideologies without the parents permission!! Who is this foolish, yes-man "businessman" David Gonski???? And how much was he $$$paid to come up with this rubbish?
    Bottom Line- reliable safe home schooling is now fast becoming the go, if you cannot afford very good, trusted private schooling!
