  • When are other countries going to take responsibility for once? The western countries are the most generous but get all the blame for other peoples problems.

  • Peter is absolutely right and silly Phil is just pulling out the convenient, usual joker "BIGOT" card! Which is of course bloody ridiculous!
Whinger Phil has got a jealousy problem with "poor old Gina Rinehart" maybe Phil should get a proper job and pay some tax, ditto 95% of all the illegal lazy economic Centrelink-Refugees!!!!!!!!
Who then $$$sue us!!!!! For giving the bludgers a safe haven!!!!!!!!
From their "dangerous" home country, then they go home for a nice holiday and coach the others how to come to "stupid" Australia!!!
    Leave it alone Phil.

  • Father Brennan, how does inaccuracy help a debate? Of course the US loses sleep over border protection. They enacted a new draconian law in Arizona where people of Mexican appearance could be stopped and questioned. We don't want this sort of discrimination happening in Australia but we do want a say in who is admitted to Australia. Most Australians will accept some refugees but we have ceased to believe that many asylum seekers are genuine.Too many sole young men, the vanguard of an unskilled family migration, well aware they wouldn't qualify any other way.The fact is, Australia has a SKILL SHORTAGE. We need to train our own workers and import skilled people, not load up with unskilled service workers who are virtually unemployable. I think the Malaysia solution will ensure we take genuine refugees who have been processed and waiting patiently. What about their human rights? I also think we need to amend the Migration Act so a small group of activists can't use our High Court to overturn the wishes of the majority. How is this democracy?
