China buying our future food supply?
China is sending out buyers to snap up our farmland. Jason Morrison says nothing is being said by the government because it seems too hot to handle. Its time we stepped up and stop the selling off of our food source.
A government report has recommended keeping a closer track of how much farmland is being bought by foreign companies.
The area of agricultural land owned by overseas interests doubled between 1984 and 2010 to 11.3 percent.
The report says foreign investment is important to agriculture, but has recommended a nation-wide register to track sales.
Jock Laurie from the National Farmers Federation says they also want more powers given to the Foreign Investment Review Board.

How true, we are fools and have our head in the clouds. China buys our natural Gas foe 5 cents a liter capped for 20 years, yet we pay through the nose for the same Gas that we own, something is wrong and that is, Shxxxt Governments that run our country

@ Peter B
Yes China is important to us they are buying our Compressed Natural Gas for 5 cents per litre price capped for 20 years.
The only problem is that the Australian people are excluded from getting the same deal, as I keep telling everyone I can the Government hates us!

Why not simply come up with a policy where foreign nationals and foreign companies can, over a certain value, only purchase a 99 year lease over the land?
