The MP for Bowman tweeted: "Mobs tearing up Logan. Did any of them do a day's work today, or was it business as usual and welfare on tap?"

Police called in the riot squad at Logan, south of Brisbane, on Monday night to control a confrontation between an Aboriginal family and a Pacific Islander family.

Logan Mayor Pam Parker is organising an urgent ministerial summit in a bid to ward off any more violence between the families, who live in the same street.

She says the violence of recent days has tarnished the city's reputation.

Premier Campbell Newman said the state government would consider relocating the families involved, if they agreed.
