The ditty Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree has come in to criticism over the line 'Gay your life must be...' John & Sandy reveal calls for a change because of political correctness, but is the word gay that offensive?

  • As a child I clearly recall the word 'gay' was regarded as a beautiful English word generally associated with a lovely rose! Sadly, over time the use of the word was transposed to mean something else and, in my view, is now a word thoroughly ruined over time thanks to 'them'!

  • Why change the word "gay" in books, songs and ice creams. Sould i chnage my name if I was christend Gay? The meaning "gay"is only a recent addition to the context referring to homosexuals and lesbians
    Why not take that word away from them and find another to decribe this community.
    Now that makes sense!

  • When kids say how gay ? they mean as in homosexual , thats what the word gay means now ,remember Golliwogs ????

  • Sadly whether we like it or not "gay " now means homosexual, so to sing the song and say gay , well you're saying homosexual , so he's write to change the wording
