Tim Webster: A plead to you to remain in private health cover

As the intergenerational report is handed down, Tim Webster is concerned over talk of the removal of the rebate for private health insurance. $75,000 for singles as a cut off point hardly makes you a rich person.

  • I look at this differently to what most people do. My husband & I are pensioners and cannot afford health insurance but the people over $75,000 get a rebate yet we contribute (on one occasion $120 in one week) with GST payments and we are contributing to giving these people a rebate. We are contributing indirectly to the health insurance of people who could afford the payments and still not be affected by the means test.
    Beats me!
