  • Dusty was exposed to Hendra virus and it means that he most likely developed immunity subclinically. It is best to wait and not to kill it. He should be kept for further research.

  • If Dusty has no virus just antibodies to the Hendra virus, shouldn't he be quarantined . He may have developed an immune response to the virus but not be a carrier. I believe that the authorities are being rash in their response. Give Dusty a chance-he is quite obviously a much loved family member.

  • Whilstever Dusty is otherwise healthy he should not be euthanased. Surely he could be quanantined and monitored. The authorities seem to have been quite happy to have left dog and family together all this time. It is reported that the Qld Chief Vet Officer stated that the virus may alter Dustys behaviour, may make him agressive, may turn him into a dangerous dog. He also stated that Dusty would be of more value dead and an autopsy performed than kept alive. Sounds as though the authorities don't have answers to any of the above so feel the best solution is to just get rid of the dog. My heart goes out to the Fearon family. They have whatever support I can lend in their fight to SAVE DUSTY.
