Indian students the brunt of racist attacks in Melbourne?

Recent attacks on Indian students studying in Melbourne will cost the Australian economy millions. What evidence is there the attacks are racially motivated? Gautam Gupta discusses the anger from the Indian community.

  • 1. Racial or not , nobody can deny that 99% of these attacks were perpetrated by Australians on Indians.

    2. There are extremist wings in India as well.

    3. However Indian colleges & Universities do not go all over the world doing a hard sell to students, asking them to come to their country to study.

    4. I had personally been to a seminar of CQ University in India where the speaker , accompanied by a famous veteran Australian cricketer was wooing prospective students with lovely pictures , stories of Australia as a safe haven etc etc.

    5. Racial or not , i dont know, Australians definitely are not a very welcoming lot.

  • I think the shame of Australians is that we are implicit in the exploitation of Indian citizens by their own countrymen. We allow these questionable operators to profit from the grief of their own people on the promise of an education and citizenship for individuals and their families. Let's erradicate this industry of misery.
