Prime Minister Julia Gillard says union leaders were confused if they thought Labor was considering holding an inquiry into Australia's ailing manufacturing sector. Ms Gillard has been criticised by union leaders as well as backbencher Doug Cameron M.P. for ruling out an inquiry.
Ms Gillard met with industry and union leaders on Monday.AWU National Secretary Paul Howes and Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU) National Secretary Dave Oliver both walked away from Mondays talks believing Ms Gillard was considering an inquiry. But Prime Minister Gillard says they were mistaken!!
Mr Howes said he was 'shocked' the Ms Gillard had now ruled out an inquiry, accusing Ms Gillard of changing her tune again.
At Monday's meeting Ms Gillard made it very clear she was open to considering an inquiry, he told reporters.
'It (an inquiry) makes sense and it's the right thing to do.'Senator Cameron described the decision not to hold an inquiry as politically dumb and economically irresponsible.
'The ideological obsession with free trade is counter-productive,' the former AMWU National Secretary said:
'It's pretty arrogant to think that free trade has all the answers.'However, Ms Gillard said the government would take the best of expert advice along the way.

Yes, and the opinion polls do not lie, contrary to what these labor party and greens party knuckleheads would have us believe. Madame Gillard is now below 23% in the latest poll! That means badly shot duck! Why not go now to the labor party 'annointed' governor general of waste, Madame Bryce and call an election Madame Jul-liar.

Yes this tool albaneze, thompson and brown character, further illustrates just how ridiculously stupid is despotic Gillard and her disastrous govt. I think things are happening! Big time!

Congratulations Susan, well spoken! We must get rid of these stupid, traitorous smart arses and their rotten hidden agenda!!!
They have already cause too much, irreparable, deliberate damage.Ebony Sunday 28 August, 2011 - 6:21 PM -
Excellent comments here by Gary Crockett which I support to the hilt. Thanks Gary for them. Anthonly Albanese disgusts be no end. He is a shiver looking for its glass spine! He is a knucklehead with a stiff upper lip, thin skinned and weak, bloody well weak, right through to his glass backbone. And a rank incompetent to boot! That shall occur come the next national election or sooner, hopefully. Please God!
