Magistrate Pat O'Shane referred to the Judicial Commission

Ambulance Paramedics have expressed anger at a ruling by controversial Magistrate Pat O'Shane, who threw out an assault case against an African man, who hit an Ambulance officer who was trying to help him.

Mick Willis from the Ambulance Service has told Jason Morrison the magistrates claim that the Paramedic was racist, is just absurd.

Is Pat O'Shane suitable to continue?

Premier Barry O'Farrell says his concerns on a "pattern of behaviour" from Magistrate Pat O'Shane prompted the unusual decision of referring her to the Judicial Commission. Jason Morrison on her step too far.

Premier Barry O'Farrell says the Commission will be asked to see if there's a pattern of decisions by the magistrate which warrant action.

  • I appeared twice before Pat O'Shane and received idiotic decisions. I had to appeal both and won. She is an intelligent woman but of no use to humanity because of her biases. She must go.

  • this judge is infamous for her judgements, remember the police who were sworn at and spat on. Granting token positions in authority never does anyone any good

  • O'Shane is simply not worthy of her job. She has a pattern of utterly stupid behaviours on the bench - all at the taxpayers expense and even worse - to the detriment of the victims whom she obviously could not give two hoots about. I trust the so called independent Judicial Commission will recommend termination of her employment. I won't hold my breath though.

  • How can someone like a Magistrate that holds such an important office, not face any consequences for making such a discusting attack on a person's character. Judges should be accountable for their actions like everyone else.

  • Yes "jag" reverse racism-discrimination is rampant, just look at Labor- Julia Gillard and slime green Bob Brown who seem to have an intent dislike/hatred of hardworking taxpaying Australians who are now going backwards bigtime, under a rotten Labor/Green govt.

  • I wonder if the paramedics had been of Aboriginal/Torres Strait ancestry would there have been a different outcome
