More rescue choppers, not less!

New South Wales could be left with just 12 rescue helicopters - under proposed cost-cutting plans.

Rescue helicopter crews say more aircrafts are needed in rural areas, despite a state review recommending they be based close to Sydney.

The government-commissioned report also wants the New South Wales fleet to be reduced from 15 helicopters to just 12.

Ian Badham from Careflight has told Stuart Bocking there aren't enough helicopters to serve the mid-north coast around Coffs Harbour.
