Monster storm Sandy has been compared to Hurricane Katrina.

Monster storm, Sandy, has made a landfall on the New Jersey coast of the U.S. It has been driving a deadly tidal surge into coastal cities along the eastern U.S coast and pushing storm-force winds, torrential rain and heavy snow deep inland.

Authorities have warned that the threat to life and property is unprecedented and ordered hundreds of thousands of residents in cities and towns in New Enlgand to North Carolina to evaucate their homes and find shelter.

New York City is copping a battering from Hurricane Sandy, as the super storm moves inland.

Denham Hitchock, Channel Nine's US Correspondent and Tiffany Slater, an Australian working in New York joined Murray Olds to discuss the super storm and how they are coping on the ground.
