Police are thanking drivers for helping to reduce the national holiday road-toll. The Christmas/New Year count, which ended at midnight, shows 48 people died on the nation's roads, down from 50 last year.
13 people of those deaths have been in New South Wales, where a police-blitz continues until tonight.
Highway Patrol Commander Bob Ryan has told Stuart Bocking the road toll's been steadily falling in recent years.
