  • How about an apology to the workers and employees too? and a sincere look at their greivances? How about an honest disclosure about what Joyce and Abbott discussed before grounding the flights?

  • i am sick of union bashing. every worker in australia enjoys working conditions fought for by unions. even if you are not in a union do you think sick pay, holiday pay, weekends, public holidays, lunch breaks would have been willingly offered by employers.

  • It is one of the many union ploys of the Qantas dispute that the unions have inferred that Qantas are jeopardising safety. Qantas have not. Safety is their number 1 priority.
No other airline does their major maintenance in Australia because of the massive costs to their airlines compared to overseas.
The majority of the engineers overseas are Australian & they have not outpriced themselves like the unionised crew do here.
The unions have not changed their outdated work practices from 20 years ago to the technology now & do not need 15 persons to do the work of 2.
Qantas is a business & must reign in costs if it is to be viable. Unions are jeopardising the whole airline by demanding unsustainable costly work practises.
Qantas employees are already the highest paid & have the best working conditions in the industry globally.
Australians want cheap flights & Qantas must manage costs to be competitive & to remain.
Every business promotes themselves, particularly after the union dispute has forced Qantas to closedown temporarily to terminate industrial action, hopefully Qantas can regain the publics confidence.
Joyce is a real leader & is commended for his actions to save the airline.

Good luck Qantas Thursday 10 November, 2011 - 2:08 AM
