On Tuesday 8 November 2011, the Australian music industry will gather at NSW Parliament House for the annual ‘MUSIC IN THE HOUSE’ luncheon to celebrate the presentation of Support Act’s ‘EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNITY SUPPORT’ Award. This luncheon attracts some of the biggest names in the Australian music industry and this year is set to be one of the best yet. The focus of ‘Music In The House’ is to honour members of the music industry who, by their tireless efforts and charitable works, have made a difference and enriched the fabric of the broader Australian community. Previous recipients of the award have been Jimmy Barnes, Glenn Shorrock, Don Spencer, Richard Clapton and John Paul Young.
Hosted by the Hon Nathan Rees MP, Shadow Minister for the Arts and Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services, the 2011 recipient of this prestigious award will be RUSSELL MORRIS, ARIA Hall of Fame inductee of 2008 and again in 2010 with his album ‘Wings of An Eagle’ included in ARIA’s ‘100 Best Australian Albums’ compilation. Russell has been chosen for his active support of diverse charitable organisations over many years including the Myeloma Cancer Foundation, Golden Stave Foundation, Sacred Heart Mission, Bali Children’s Foundation and The Variety Club of Australia.
Formed in 1997, Support Act exists to support members of the Australian music community with dignity, respect and compassion in times of adversity. Support Act is a registered charity which operates across Australia – its founding members are ARIA, PPCA and APRA|AMCOS, and it is run by volunteers from the music industry.
Meryl Gross, Chair of Support Act, commented “The Board of Support Act is proud to pay tribute this year to Russell Morris who, along with many members of the Australian music industry, generously respond to the many requests they receive to support various charities. It is through the efforts of these people that charitable funds are raised and community efforts rewarded. Music In The House is a fundraiser for the music industry’s own charity, Support Act, and our thanks to all the people who will give their time supporting this lunch and making it happen.”
Bookings for this event can be made by faxing 02 8569 1183, calling 02 8569 1144, or by emailing events@supportact.com.au. The cost is $150.00 per head and includes pre-lunch drinks, a three-course meal and a very special acoustic performance by the Excellence in Community Support Award recipient, Russell Morris.

Russell's sweet music takes me back to the innocent, happy, peaceful, naive 60's & 70's when Australia was all for Australia! The best place in the world and a bloody good place to live. What ever happened since?? Thank you Russell, you are a Saint mate. Merry Christmas.
