Satellites to service NBN for Bush

Will wireless be better for the internet of the future than the NBN?

The Opposition has criticised the amount of money being spent on two satellites to deliver the National Broadband Network to parts of regional Australia.

A $620 million contract will be given to a US Communications firm for the satellites to provide services for about 200,000 people in remote areas that can't be connected to the fibre network.

Paul Murray looks at the deal announced today by Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Communications Minister Stephen Conroy.

  • Paul Murray, just another city slicker who doesn't believe that our country cousins deserve better telecommunications.
Shall we have a quick whip around to kick Paul's $30 in?
