School students to give the teacher a report card?

Schools need more male teachers, so why are so many men leaving the profession? David Oldfield on the difficulties with Tommy Herschell, who was in a school of 43 teachers, and he was the only male teaching.

  • James has it spot-on, since we seem to take the side of the little darling every time, male adults have to be over cautious to the point of giving up. Teachers have lost all authority because of the leftie trendies and are seen as targets. Teachers can`t even break up a fight physicly, they have to talk out the situation. Why are we asking male teachers to feminise everything too ?

  • TAFE NSW is the same with so many bitchy women teachers. The TAFE Administration is the same, over-run by bitchy, backstabbing lazy women. Males are clearly being discriminated against, all with the union and the ACTU's full support???

  • Male teachers forced out by fear!
    =================================
    One of my siblings and several of my friends are teachers. I am male and I've even started doing a 'Dip-Ed' (as they used to be called).

    But I have stopped. I'm a man and teaching is too dangerous for a man.

    If you ever make an enemy, a simple anonymous false allegation can end your career and destroy your reputation in the community. Once an allegation has been made, there is nothing he can do to clear his name.

    Making false allegations about sexual abuse by a male teacher will certainly make him suffer - there is almost nothing he can do to defend himself. Mud sticks, even on teflon.

    The problem is that grubs who make VINDICTIVE, INTENTIONAL FALSE ALLEGATIONS are never punished. You can destroy a man's life, end his career, wipe out his marriage, destroy his kids (due to fatherlessness), destroy his reputation in the community, force him to sell his home to pay lawyers to defend himself... and even if it is proven that the accusations were both false and nasty, the person who made this denouncment is never punished.

    So I'm not finishing my 'dip-ed'. I'm not going to be a teacher... I pity the boys who would have benefited from having a man in their lives, but I can't risk it.
