Humans have contributed to the global warming effect by cutting down much of the equatorial forests and forests elsewhere, by their rapidly increasing numbers and their increasing use of fossil fuels as energy.
The issue is the speed at which warming is occuring. I visited Shanghai in 2002, where they said snow hadn't fallen since 1978 ( it regularly did before then). Also I have spoken to young Canadians ( in their 20's)who said when they were children the snow fall started in late October, now it starts in late November.
Glaciers over the last 30 years have been retreating rapidly so that the Himalayan and Andean glaciers will disappear soon.
Anyone who checks the many factual studies will see rapid changes over the last 30 years in many areas where temperature increase is monitored.
It has been no problem for Australians to pay the extra charges due to the GST. Also people have accepted the reduced tax rates, which has resulted in more money in everyones pockets.
If the ETS results in an increase of renewable energy providers and hence new jobs, with the opportunity to sell these new technologies to developing countries to reduce these polluting emissions, then I support the ETS

Tony Abbott has recanted re the ETS. He has listened to his constituents.
That is what an opposition is all about. M Turnbull is lost in a Gold and Sachsman world of his own.
Get rid of him.robert s Monday 30 November, 2009 - 2:58 AM -
Note to Liberal Part of Oz
Please, pretty please carry on as you have been during the cause of this whole debate of Climate Change and particulary the CPRS and ETS.
A friendly point to all consider, Meg Lees as the Emperial Great negotiator, did the favour for her party on the New Tax System, similiary, I trust similar fate awaits for those people wanting to emulate similar tactics on this one.
Congratualations!!!!
Go Malcomlm, the other two (toddler Tony and Jack-ass Joe" are just that!!!Morgan Kumar Sunday 29 November, 2009 - 10:56 AM -

Does not have the interest of the nation and its people to go along with such a horrific tax.
