The squeeze is on across Sydney's suburbs as populations rise

The median cost of rental accommodation in Sydney hovers around $500 a week, and there are calls for affordable housing. David Oldfield on poor options for those in the community on low incomes.

  • It is simple supply and demand. There is too much immigration. Immigration puts tremendous pressure on house prices, utilities and infrastructure.

  • Maybe a 'shanty town' is needed. Perhaps second hand, renovated mobile homes with an economic sturdy "lean-to" of galvanised iron and hessian bags on a grassed floor for $50 per week. That should do some of them - the poor buggers.And who can afford to live in Sydney without a substantial deposit for a house or pigeon box home unit or are they 'apartments' now?

  • There is plenty of affordable housing available , the conditions of getting it , are :
    GET IN HERE ON A LEAKY BOAT AS AN UNIDENTIFIED ILLEGAL CRIMINAL !!!!!
