Taste Food Tours uncovering Sydney
Spring is here, why not spice up your life with a Taste Food Tour.
The Benevolent Society has developed a range of Taste Food Tours to entice people from outside the area to discover the culinary delights of South Western Sydney suburbs. These tours are run as a social enterprise, offering a great cultural and ‘foodie’ experience to visitors to the area, while also generating income for local businesses, and creating jobs for local residents. All tours are led by teams of local tour guides, who share their knowledge of the area they live in, and through this role, gain training, qualifications and local employment.
In addition to scheduled tours, a tailored tour can be made for you and your friends or colleagues for your end of year celebration. Tours can cater for groups as small as 10 and as large as 100.
Tailored tours can be done any day or evening of the week and can include entertainment, art or drumming workshops or a hands-on cooking class. You can choose from one of the existing walking tours or progressive dinners, or mix and match stops from the range of tours, to suit the budget and needs of your group.
For information on a tailored group tour, please call or email Cathy on 9707 0800 or cathyq@bensoc.org.au
On Saturday 15th’s European Explorer tour 2UE’s Online Manager David Prior took to the streets of Belmore with the team from Taste Food Tour to sample the hidden gems. Here’s how our tour progressed:

Meeting our hosts at Belmore station, we were looked after all day by Eva, Sophie and Shaista who are all from the local area and as such have incredible knowledge of the sites around the area.
Our first stop was Belmore Continental Bakery... the goodies were delicious, especially the Baklava! I mentioned the Belmore Continental bakery with Dr Ross Walker on Healthy Living on 2UE. Our first stop was followed by Al Rabih:

Down the main street of Belmore to Al Rabih to taste the best in fresh nuts, olives and cheeses along with Mediterranean delights.

Next stop: Sydney Best & Fresh Continental Delicatessan

Shaista & Eva hand out just some of the many goodies that come with each tour for you to take home and sample. Trust me, your sample bag will be bursting with extra goodies.

The most delicious tasting Chicken & Lamb to savor with a Greek Cypriot European flavour. Just delicious and mouth watering.

Our chefs from the Sydney Best & Fresh Continental Delicatessan

Thanks for the food Zac!

Melissa was an incredible surprise for me, I haven't been here since a child when my Grandmother used to take us to buy Turkish Delight. Rose flavoured Turkish Delight, but most of the tour group decided to take home the Ouzo flavoured Turkish Delight... divine!

Melissa is a family owned local business that exports to market places around the world... quiet achievers that are just some of the hidden gems you discover in our our back yard, the suburbs of Sydney.
Thanks Chris and family! Memory time for me...

Casa Mia:

Lunch: Casa Mia has the finest of Italian delicacies and will no doubt have your mouth watering. Have a look at lunch, and dessert below.

Casa Mia's special dessert for our tour. Thanks Felix!
