An Adelaide mother has had a sometimes-angry reaction to her idea of a toy-gun buy-back in the wake of the latest US shooting.

Sam Paior offered her children $5 to hand-in some of their toy guns, and is urging other parents to follow.

Sam says there's been a mixed reaction.
