Should fishing from Public Wharves be banned?

One of the greatest things you can do is dangle a line, and just wait... and wait... and wait... and wait.

Fishing is one of the largest recreational sports in the world... and every week thousands of us (with a license) head off to our favourite fishing spot to catch a big one.

Well it seems that the favourite fishing spot of some, is looking more like a rubbish bin out the back of the fish markets than the clean destination it was before they threw a line in.

Fisherman, (or is that Fisherpersons ?) are leaving places like Cremorne Point Wharf, Kirribilli, East Balmain and other spots like war zone, with a sea odour. Blood, Guts, Bait, and Prawns are just left there without any concern for others who use the wharf.

Can you grubs clean up your act, or do you live like that at home?

I'm sure there are many places around Sydney Harbour that have these grubs messing up your suburb.

Oh, and while we're on fishing, the people who catch under sized fish and take them home to stick in a blender to make fish cakes, can you stop it! That’s not fishing!

Where else in Sydney do you see the rubbish and fish guts left behind after people have been fishing there?

Should fishing from Public Wharves be banned?

Blog comments Your Say

  • Fishing on public wharfs that people get on ferries should be banned , there should be a blitz on rubbish left by fishing people as they leave junk everwhere in all fishing places , litter is a national disgrace especially around a mcdonals store.
