Wild Oats XI set for Sydney to Hobart bluewater classic

Wild Oats XI has just taken line honours in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race and it's managed it in race record time.

The skipper of Super-Maxi Wild Oats XI says its record-breaking win in the Sydney to Hobart shows how unpredictable the race can be.

It crossed the line this morning in a time about 16-minutes faster than its previous record set in 2005.

In the early hours of this morning, the record looked out of reach.

But skipper Mark Richards tells Stuart Bocking the yacht performed well in the final stretches.
