John Stanley on what should happen to the Sydney metro

John Stanley reveals why calls to scrap the Sydney Metro Rail project because of a cost blowout should be dismissed, and says we should however return to the original plans to build the service out to Sydney's North West.

  • After careful thought and research in to the different transport options possible, I think the CBD Metro is important for the furute development of the network. It should be quickly extended from Rozelle to Rouse Hill or Castle Hill as well though but they need more money for that. We have to remember that it will only work if there is an extended network. If that does not happen due to changing governments cancelling things all the time thn it will fail.

  • I don't think the CBD Metro should proceed at all. It has been shown to be only an election vehicle for the NSW ALP. The people of Sydney and NSW are being deprived of good public transport and are having their hard earned taxes spent on an unstable public works project by the ALP. Surely we have all had enough of Labor with disaster after disaster. Bring on the Metro but make it a good one, not an election gimmick with our money. Why ask for an environmental impact study, if its not going to be taken into account? Labor is bad and I won't be voting for them.
