Heather Neil from the RSPCA, which has campaigned against whipping, tells Steve Price why winning jockey Corey Brown is expected to be investigated for illegal use of the whip on Shocking in the Melbourne Cup.

  • Why do they have to use the whip at all? They say horses love to race???? I wonder if the Jockeys had a taste of it would they like it!

    Horses are exploited STOP whipping!!

  • I agree with the RSPCA that Cory Brown used his whip on Shocking inappropriately. He clearly whipped the horse after the race was over. It was inappropriate and my husband and I were disgusted.

  • i just watched the replay of the melb. cup ,it is quite obvious the lady from the rspca has got it wrong, instead of grandstanding she should remain quite,and the comment about the harness racing the drivers quite often slap the horse`s around the head ,corey did not

  • Corey Brown was overjoyed and clearly showed his affection and pride for his horse. Did the horse flinch or rear up, if he was hit as hard as the RSPCA how come the horse did not react????
