TWILIGHT PARADE - Sunday 29 January
Join the street party for the biggest Festival event marking the Year of the Dragon. The magical Twilight Parade will weave its way, dragon-style, under the beauty of an evening sky illuminated by giant projections on Sydney’s buildings.

With over 2900 performers, this is one extravaganza that you won’t want to miss.

DRAGON BOAT RACES – presented by St George Bank - Saturday 4 – Sunday 5 February
12-metre long boats decorated to feature the head and tail of the dragon battle it out in the waters of Cockle Bay. A symbol of good fortune and a sign of intense power, these mythical beasts appear to surge through the water. Each boat is large enough to seat 20 people with a sweep to steer and a drummer pounding loudly above the thrashing of the oars.

RED GATE GALLERY: Two Generations
Established in 1991 by Australian Brian Wallace, Red Gate Gallery is the oldest, and one of the most respected, contemporary art galleries in China. Since opening its doors at Dongbianmen Ming Dynasty Watchtower, Red Gate has been recognised as a pioneer, engaged in the promotion of the Chinese contemporary art scene internationally.

Exclusively in Sydney for the Chinese New Year Festival, this exhibition features the work of 10 internationally acclaimed senior Red Gate artists, who have each nominated a young, emerging artist to exhibit alongside them, bringing together a unique celebration of Red Gate’s 20-year history.

DRAGON TO DRAGON: A photographic retrospective of the Chinese New Year Parade
Sharon Hickey, a Sydney-based photographer, has been capturing all the magic and beauty of the Chinese New Year Parade since 2005, from the thrill on the face of a child in the audience, to the concentration in a performer’s eyes. Relive your favourite moments and all the extraordinary colour and spectacle at this wonderful exhibition documenting one of Sydney’s favourite cultural events.
