A politician as your babysitter?

Date

If you had to entrust your children to the care of a federal politician, which one would it be? For almost 3 in 10 surveyed, Finance Minister Penny Wong, whose daughter just turned 1, was the top political babysitter choice.

But a quarter of the 1133 people surveyed said they wouldn't want any of the 14 politicians mentioned looking after their children.

Maverick independent Bob Katter was the nation's choice for best barbecue host with 38.6 per cent nominating him - just pipping shadow treasurer Joe Hockey's 38.1 per cent.

But Mr Katter was also anointed the politician most likely to be an annoying in-law, with two in five labelling him top.

A third of those surveyed also thought the man in the hat was the politician who'd make the best Bond villain.

Mr Katter took second place honours for best Bond villain, behind Labor-turned-independent MP Craig Thomson (39.3 per cent) and ahead of Opposition Leader Tony Abbott (24.6 per cent).

Out of the leaders, Mr Abbott prevailed over Prime Minister Julia Gillard as the most annoying in-law. (AAP)
