Child killer gets community service

Child killer, Alan Austin Hughes has been sentenced to 200 hours of community service for breaching his parole conditions.

Allan Hughes, who changed his name to Blain Lopez Smith, was sentenced in Port Macquarie Local Court on Monday after pleading guilty to failing to comply with reporting conditions.

He was sentenced to a minimum of 14 years jail in 1994 for the fatal bashing of his girlfriend's six-year-old son, John Ashfield on the NSW south coast in the previous year.

He was paroled from Silverwater prison on strict conditions in 2009.
