Salvos don't need your garbage

The Salvation Army says it is fed up with people dumping rubbish and unusable donations at its stores.

Volunteers across the country are being forced to waste hours of their days sorting through the trash.

The organisation's Major Robert Sneller says it's costing the organisation a fortune to dump the unusable donations.

He says dealing with unusable items costs the Salvation Army about $5-million a year, which could be better spent on helping people in need.
